A groundbreaking video is taking the Internet by storm. Igniter Media has released “A Social Network Christmas” for use in worship services this Christmas.
“A Social Network Christmas” looks at the Biblical Christmas story and puts it into the 2010 perspective. In many circumstances, we attempt to put ourselves into the “shoes” of Mary and Joseph as they travel the roads of Bethlehem and Nazareth. This unique and moving video instantly relates to the millions of people using the Facebook social network to communicate. The main characters of the Christmas story use Facebook to communicate to each other, report their travels, post pictures, and more of their journey.
Words cannot directly show the impact of this video. Moreover, if you do not use Facebook, it will not have the same impact. But Pastors of their church that do not use Facebook should keep an open mind about showing this as many of their members do use the site.
Look at these stats from facebook.com:
- More than 500 million active users
- 50% of our active users log on to Facebook in any given day
- Average user has 130 friends
- People spend over 700 billion minutes per month on Facebook
So, this video will relate to many people this Christmastime and even if you don’t use it in worship, I hope it blesses you this season. Check out the video here.
