Last week @ IBC, we continued our Nehemiah series. My pastor’s sermon was entitled “Conflict from Within” from Nehemiah 5:1-19. The worst conflicts are often those that come from within the camp, rather than outside. We tend to focus on the misgivings of others in an attempt to justify ourselves (make us feel better). I sought to point our congregation to Jesus (novel concept!). When we look to Him, “the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.”
Call to Worship – How Can I Keep from Singing? (Tomlin) – Song of praise for the love, mercy, and grace of Jesus.
Welcome & Announcements
Worship through Song
- Because He Lives (traditional) – Remind folks that Christ has defeated the grave and because He lives we can face anything.
- Read Scripture: 2 Corinthians 3:12-18 – reminded folks that we need to spend time beholding God. Do people see anything different about you when they look at your life? Like Moses, could they tell that you had spend time with God??? One of the reasons conflicts arise within is because we have stopped spending time beholding our great God!
- Behold Our God (Sovereign Grace) – Love this song!!!
Behold our God seated on His throne / Come let us adore Him
Behold our God nothing can compare / Come let us adore Him
Choir Anthem – Saved by Grace Medley
Message – “Conflicts from Within” – Nehemiah 5:1-19
Time of Response – Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus (traditional)
