Worship through Song –

O Church Arise (Getty & Towned) – Our choir has sang this on two previous occasions, but this was the first time I used this song for congregational singing.  I led it with only piano / ogran accompaniment (two of our band members were helping out another church).  Sometimes it’s okay to do things simply.  While there is nothing wrong with being creative and coming up with beautiful arrangements, we must remember God doesn’t need our ingenuity to accomplish his purposes!  Since the message dealt with “no flinching”  leadership, I tried to remind our congregation of Ephesians 6:12-13.

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.  Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.”

How Great Is Our God (Tomlin) –  Pointing to the greatness of our God  Nehemiah 6:16

“And when all our enemies heard of it, all the nations around us were afraid and fell greatly in their own esteem, for they perceived that this work had been accomplished with the help of our God.
