Music You Need to Hear: Casting Crowns – “Come to the Well”

Here at ChurchMusicToday.Net we want to keep you informed on all the new music out there worth listening to.  You may not prefer to listen to this music in your car on the way to work, but at least you could keep some of these selections in mind for all aspects of worship including:

  • offertory selections
  • youth praise band
  • praise band selections
  • adult and youth choir songs
  • music for media (videos/weddings/graduation)
  • and ________________ (fill in the blank)

Youth Pastor, Mark Hall, and the Casting Crowns crew have come out with a brand new album called, “Come to the Well”.  This album includes the songs:

  • Courageous (Micah 6:8, Joshua 1:8, Roans 12:1-2, Ephesians 5:25, Ephesians 6:4)
  • City on a Hill (Matthew 5:13-16, 1 Corinthians 12:12-20, Philippians 2:15, Ephesians 4, Ephesians 5:8)
  • Jesus, Friend of Sinners (Ephesians 6:12, Matthew 23, Matthew 26:52, Romans 14:13, John 8:8, Psalm 100:5)
  • Already There (Jeremiah 29:11, Romans 8:28, Matthew 25:14-30, 2 Timothy 1:9)
  • The Well (John 4:1-54, Isaian 49:10, John 6:35, John 7:38)
  • Spirit Wind (Ezekiel 37, Psalm 63:1-2)
  • Just Another Birthday (Psalm 68:5, James 1:27)
  • Wedding Day (Matthew 25:1-13, Ephesians 5:22-32, Isaiah 1:18, Revelation 19:6-10, Hosea 2:19-20)
  • Angel (Proverbs 31)
  • My Own Worst Enemy (Romans 7:16-20, Galatians 5:17, Romans 7:23, Colossians 3:1-17)
  • Face Down (Isaiah 66:1-3, Psalm 51: 6-17)
  • So Far to Find You (Romans 8:15, Galatians 4:4-6, Philippians 2:6-11)
Note the Scripture references.  as noted above, Mark Hall (lead singers of Casting Crowns) is a Youth Pastor and his songs represent a small sermon within a song.  Some of these are great and I can’t wait to use them in our praise band or youth choir…our church loves Casting Crowns.  We recently just introduced “Living He Loved Me (O Glorious Day)” as a congregational song (from their last album).
Another interesting fact is that Matthew West is a co-writer of seven of the twelve songs.  Also, the last song is about adoption and it is co-written with Steven Curtis Chapman.
A couple of songs to listen to are:
  • Courageous
  • Already There
  • Jesus, Friend of Sinners
  • The Well
