In February, Church Music Today’s contributors will share some posts about conferences you need to know about! We will give you some information about conferences we support and share as much useful information as we can about them (the main who, what, when, where and why of each conference).
This is about the time of year when you can start thinking ahead, looking at your budget and planning for a conference (usually late spring or summer).
Today, I will post about the WorshipGod conferences that are put on by Bob Kauflin of Sovereign Grace Ministries. WorshipGod is typically held every other year. I attended the conference in 2008, 2009, & 2011. One of the things I look for in worship of any style and background is this: do they hold to a high view of the Word in Worship? WorshipGod is very serious about the Word.
The conference has historically been held in Gaithersburg, Maryland but recently the Sovereign Grace offices moved to Louisville, KY. Therefore, in 2013 there will be two conferences. For those of us here in KY that is good news because one of the conferences will be held at Highview Baptist Church East in Louisville. A much more manageable drive than Maryland! Here is what Mr. Kauflin has to say about the conference via the WorshipGod website…
Whether the size of your church is less than 50 or more than 5000, you’ll find plenty to benefit from a WorshipGod conference. Along with biblical preaching, passionate singing, and rich fellowship, attendees also enjoy a well-stocked bookstore, free lunches on-site, and lots of give-aways. Best of all, you have the opportunity to meet and get to know like-minded Christians from hundreds of churches who share your passion for glorifying the Savior and serving his church.
WorshipGod13 will take place in two locations this year. June 27-29, 2013 we’ll be at Calvary Church in Santa Ana, CA. July 31-Aug. 3, 2013, we’ll be at Highview Baptist Church East on Shelbyville Rd. Keep an eye on my blog for updates. Hope to see you there!
If you are looking for a good conference to go to this year, I would encourage to look at WorshipGod. The cost is in a manageable range and with there being one in KY and CA there is opportunity for folks in the East and West to attend.
